Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway
The southernmost point of the continental U.S. is Key West, Florida. For Loopers, this also begins their journey up the 1,250-mile Altantic Intracoastal Waterway (AICW / AIWW). The Atlantic ICW follows natural ad man-made waterways through Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and into Virginia until it reaches the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay at Norfolk, Virginia.

The Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW or AICW) carries Loopers north from Key West, FL to Norfolk, VA. The “Marine Highway 95” runs the majority of the Atlantic seaboard, utilizing diverse waterways includin rivers, sounds, bays, inlets and man-made canals.
Alternate Route
In North Carolina, Loopers may opt to traverse the Dismal Swamp Canal instead of following the AIWW through the Virginia Cut.
