A quiet Anchorage near St. Augustine
The Pine Island anchorage is ~13 miles north of St. Augustine, Florida. There aren’t any amenities, but it’s still one of our favorite anchorages. It’s located on a branch of the Tolomato River, which is also the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway through this area.
The anchorage is immediately adjacent to the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve. We spent our evening watching the dolphins play around us, and herons and egrets hunt. We watched the sun go down before nodding off to sleep.
In the morning, we were treated to one of the most epic sunrises! What began at soft pastels quickly became a fiery orange, seemingly burning everything it touched.
