We dropped the hook just before noon at a beautiful anchorage behind Henry Island.

There are a lot of these islands, referred to towheads, along the inland waterways. They’re created over time by the accumulation of silt and sand, frequently near a bend in the river. These towheads make perfect anchorages because the current in the chute (the section of water behind the towhead, out of the main river) is significantly less, or altogether nonexistant.

That was true for the Henry Island anchorage. We enjoyed an undisturbed afternoon and evening.

We shared the anchorage with fellow Loopers on a beautiful catamaran, Shadowfax.
