Right in front of a national monument… Again
The anchorage is almost directly in front of the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in St. Augustine, Florida. It was our second anchorage in front of a national monument – but there’s more to come.
This anchorage is pretty exposed, and right off the Atlantic ICW, meaning there’s a good amount of wake here. We knew that when we dropped the hook, but you can’t beat the views of this impressive fortress.
We left this anchorage and moved closer to the Bridge of Lions nearby, but only because we were paranoid about dragging as we had the night before at the Ft. Matanzas anchorage. Immediately behind this anchorage is a small island, and we didn’t want to run aground if we did drag.
