Wilmington island on the outskirts of savannah

Having already visited downtown Savannah previously, we chose this anchorage at Turner Creek for it’s convenience. There’s a Publix 0.25 miles away, and we needed to reprovision. There are several restaurants and other stores in the immediate vicinity as well.

SunLife Marina on Wilmington Island is just a short dinghy ride away, and charges $10 to dock your dinghy. The pass is good for 24 hours.

We had initally intended to anchor at the mouth of Turner Creek, but there was already a boat anchored there and a lot of new dock construction. We went further into the creek, and found a number of boats anchored just before the Johnny Mercer Boulevard Bridge. Since we can fit under the 35′ bridge, we went to the other side and were the only boat anchored there.

We stayed for two nights, and overall it was a good anchorage. There’s a small boat ramp nearby, and we were borderline in the no-wake zone, but still received some wake.
