Entering this anchorage was a WILD experience! This area had the highest density of crab pots, of any area we cruised through on the Great Loop.

That being said, the crab pots were not so close together that it made navigation impossible, just challenging. On top of the crab pots, you also need to stay in the channel until you find an unobstructed area where you can safely anchor.

The anchorage itself was quiet, with the occasional fishing boat passing through. The shoreline was grassy with sparse trees. We passed several other vessels moored in this general area, it’s a popular spot to stage to cross the Albemarle Sound the following day. There are several marked anchorages in this area, we anchored closest to Mill Point.

We woke to a dense fog, but it burned off enough for us to get underway before 7 AM.
