Our next stop was the absolutely wonderful town of Frankfort, Michigan. We loved Frankfort!!! We dropped the hook in Betsie Lake, alongside fellow Loopers on Sol Mate, to wait for another good weather window.

We walked to Stormcloud Brewery to enjoy some funky live music, and were later joined by Sol Mate AND our old friends Deb & Mark from Meant To Be! It had been much too long since we’d seen them. Great town, great people, great times.

Some towns are a little more boater-friendly than others, especially for those who are anchored. Frankfort was quite possibly the most boater-friendly town we’ve encountered! We spent three wonderful nights anchored here. Although it was a popular spot, everyone was courteous and there was plenty of room.

On our first dinghy ride to shore, a crew member from the municipal marina rode his bicycle over to us to let us know all the spots where we could tie up. And there were a lot of options! He welcomed us to use the marina dock, free of charge. There’s also a 1-hour free wall where you can dock your big boat if you don’t feel like dropping your dinghy. There’s also a large fishing pier, and a smaller dock closer to the grocery store.

Did I mention the grocery store was amazing? Wide selection and fantastic deals! There’s also a laundromat and numerous restaurants, all right there.
