After a long cruise from Swansboro, NC we arrived at the Goose Creek East anchorage late in the afternoon. It was very easy to come in and out of the anchorage, as it’s located right off the Goose Creek Channel. Just follow the channel markers right on in! The shallowest depth we saw in the area was 7 feet.

The anchorage was quiet except for the frequent plops of fish and calls of birds. As the sun went down we were treated to an epic sunrise! But then the mosquitos came out in full force and we retreated inside. After dark settled, we ventured back outside and enjoyed a beautiful starry sky. Bonus: there’s very little light pollution in this area.

There are protected anchorages on both sides of Goose Creek, so you should be able to anchor in this area regardless of the wind direction. From here, it’s ~63 miles to Alligator River and the mouth of the Albemarle Sound. It’s ~65 miles to Swansboro, NC if you’re southbound.

Anchor held like a champ!
