We really enjoyed the town of Swansboro, made easily accessible by their free dinghy dock. We had a fantastic meal at the nearby Preston’s Corner Bar & Grill (great food, great people, great prices) before walking ~1 mile to reprovision at the local Piggly Wiggly.

The Church Street Dock Rules from the Town of Swansboro.
We tied our dinghy up at the Church Street Dock, that was okay too!

This was a great anchorage! We stayed for two nights, waiting out a rainstorm. It was easy to access this anchorage following the markers, and the lowest we saw coming or going was 7 feet. We shared the quiet anchorage with one other boat, and saw very little small boat traffic. It’s off the ICW and tucked in between several small islands, so wake was a non-issue here for us.

There was a lot of activity from fish, birds, and, when the sun went down mosquitos. There was almost no light pollution, and the stargazing was beautiful in the clear sky.

Our anchor held great, and came up clean!

Due to the poor weather during our stay, we didn’t visit the nearby Hammocks Beach State Park, but you could be hiking or laying on the beach in no time from this anchorage!
