Our original Jamestown anchorage (37.224198, -76.794326) was right in front of the monument to the very first permanent Eurpoean settlement in North America! But this was one of the rare times when we weren’t confident in our anchor’s grab. On top of that, the wake from the frequent ferry trips was uncomfortable.

We decided to continue a little further, and tucked into the Chickahominy River instead. There we enjoyed a peaceful anchorage, populated only by the many local osprey.

We planned to dinghy to shore to meet a good friend, but this proved a little challenging at first. We did receive approval to beach our dinghy at Chickahominy Riverfront Park (37.26954, -76.87662).
